Why you need to visit Laramie, Wyoming

When you think of Wyoming you might think: Where is it? Or you might think of Yellowstone (which is incredible) but there are other gems of Wyoming that are worth discovering. And when you think of Laramie you might think about the Laramie project... but that couldn't be farther from the truth!

Laramie, Wyoming is a small town 2 hours north of Denver. I truly believe it's one of the most underrated towns in the states. It's charming, it's beautiful, and it's got some of the best food I've ever had. I even feel like I shouldn't be writing this post because Laramie feels like my little secret.

In this post - I've got some of the best things you should do in Laramie.

Visit the Snowy Mountain Range

The snowy mountains are only an hour outside of Laramie and let me tell you - they are worth it! There are so many trails you can hike, mountain bike, ski, snowshoe... the list is endless of outdoor activities! But be warned, the mountain range was not named half-heartedly. I've visited at the beginning of May and there was a FEET of snow on the ground! We were ill prepared to hike up Medicine Bow peak but it was fun nonetheless. When I visited this October, they were having a bit of a "heat wave" but there was definitely a chill and some snow in the mountains.

Explore the Town

Laramie is adorable. The architecture is unique. There are beautiful aspens everywhere. It's really easy to explore by foot or bike. I also love walking around the University. They have a really cool art museum and a dinosaur museum! Plus, it's just a really beautiful campus. I'd also recommend visiting the territorial prison outside of Laramie if you get the chance. It is really interesting and it's fun to learn about people like Butch Cassidy from all the old Westerns!

Head to Vedauwoo

Pronounced "Vee-da-voo," the huge rock outcropping is only a mere 20 minutes outside of Laramie. It's incredibly fun to scramble up to the top, rock climb, or just hike below. I last went on the hike that wraps around the rocks through some ponds. It's beautiful and an easy hike if you're new to it or not looking for anything too strenuous.

Eat The Food!

I've heard tales that people come from Denver to eat in Laramie. I don't doubt it either. I don't have any pictures of the food I ate on my last trip (oops) but there is the best vegetarian restaurant in Laramie called Sweet Melissa's. I got a lentil-walnut burger that was incredible. My friend got the infamous black bean and sweet potato burrito. So good.
Other notable places you should eat: Night Heron, The Crow Bar, and Anong's thai.

Enjoy a Sunset (or two)

They don't call the west big sky country for no reason. The skies in Wyoming are big. Really big. The sunset above doesn't even do it justice. I don't know if it's because they don't have as many trees blocking the way but man, not much can beat a good Wyoming Sunset (except maybe one in Montana!)

So, that's it! If you're ever in Denver I'd definitely recommend getting up to Laramie for a day or two. It is so worth it.

 Where is your underrated city?
Let me know if you comments!

Weekend in Laramie / Video

Pack With Me! / Video

I decided to try out my first voiceover video so please go easy on me with the audio :)

This weekend I am heading to Laramie, Wyoming! It might not sound like the most exciting place in the world but I am so excited to do some hiking, eat good food, and see friends I haven't seen in years.

I thought it would be fun if I showed you what I'm packing. This could very well change as I am very indecisive about packing but it's a start. I am thinking about "vlogging" while I'm there but I might just try and take as many video clips and string them together ha. Either way, expect lots of content from my trip!

Anyways - let me know what you think in the comments!

Islands in Greece You Need to Visit that Aren't Santorini

With so many bloggers flocking to Santorini and Mykonos (thanks to my Instagram feed!) I thought I'd bring back my travel posts and talk about some other islands that are definitely worth the visit in the Cyclades.

Postcards from Annecy, France

5 things to do in Lyon, France

Lyon isn't the biggest tourist destination in France but I do think it's an up-and-coming city with a lot to offer. It's full of interesting history, beautiful churches and of course - wonderful food. While I was there in December I was the only person staying in my hostel room - what a steal! I spent 3 days in Lyon and it was just enough time to get a feel for the city.

So, today I thought I'd share with you 5 things you should do if you're in Lyon.

I still have a few more travel posts left to do of my trip in December. Today's post is on the Grenoble Bastille aka one of the most beautiful places I have ever been!

3 Days in Amsterdam // Travel

I'm back with another travel related post! I promise I'll have some outfit and beauty posts this week but for now I'm talking about the next leg of my trip - Amsterdam!

Paris // Travel

With the start of the new year I'm excited to bring a new section to my blog: Travel!
I recently went on a three-week long trip to France, Amsterdam, and Spain. I'm going to do these posts by locations, otherwise they will go on forever.

I'm also thinking about doing a post on how to travel cheaply because I think I've become pretty good at it over my past trips.
