Monochrome and dreary days

I have another post featuring children's clothing today. Oops.

Lace-up shirt & mini update

I'm a little late to the trend but that's what always happens when you buy things from the thrift store! I actually took these photos a while ago but am just posting them now.... Oops.

Pattern Mixing / Life Update

I suppose I should start with the life update because that's why you're all here, right? If only I could portray my sarcasm on the internet.

How to: the oversized boyfriend shirt.

As a really petite person I try and stay away from oversized items. Maxi skirts/dresses, oversized sweaters, etc all tend to swallow me up. But I found this oversized pinstriped shirt from a yardsale for 50c. and for some reason I felt compelled to try it out. It was actually labeled a large but I decided to go for it because it didn't look too long for me.

I believe this shirt is a women's shirt but it reminded me of all the posts and trends going around about wearing your boyfriend's clothes (which I don't have) so here is my take on it!

Vintage Orange and Navy

I think Fall is finally here in the south and I am so excited. I forgot how great it feels to spend time outside and not melt! What a novel idea huh? While it wasn't cold enough to wear tights I did decide it was time to break out a sweater or two and prepare for the colder months ahead. But I feel like this outfit is very appropriate for October - especially considering halloween is just around the corner!

Camel Cardigan

I have never been into brown that much until recently. Camel is becoming huge this season and now I think I understand why. I seem to be reaching for it a lot more - plus I've got a couple of brown loafers that I love to pull out when it hits fall time.

Vintage Skirt, Denim Shirt

It is sadly still not as chilly as I'd like to be in the South. I can still get by wearing a skirt without tights and I hardly needed this denim button up as a jacket. I'm getting pretty tired of it. But alas, here is one of my favorite outfits for fall featuring my most beloved vintage skirt.

How to: Florals for Fall

In case you didn't know - I'm from the East Coast in the United States. And because of some very serious hurricanes coming through It's been raining here every single day for the past week! Today was the first time I've been able to take outfit posts for this week! And the weather hasn't even been that great for taking photos - overcast. A photographers worst nightmare. Ahh so behind! But anyways - the outfit.

Floral isn't really a print people associate with Autumn/Winter. But I love wearing florals all year round. Some of my favorite prints are ones with black undertones, which I think go perfectly for fall. They aren't too bright but they still appeal to my floral needs in my wardrobe.

The Button Front skirt

I've been looking for a button up skirt for a long time. I started seeing the denim variety pop up this summer and I wanted in. I've always been a fan of Skater Skirts but an A-line skirt was something I was intrigued by. I'd see tons of the denim skirts in stores like H&M or Topshop but I wasn't willing to pay 20$ for one skirt. So when I saw this striped skirt at the thrift store a few weeks ago I had to pick it up!

The Denim Jacket

Hello!

I don't know why but I am on such a roll with blogging! I am trying to post every other day to everyday and I think I'm doing pretty well so far! This type of photography is so different than the fine art photography I got my degree in and was trained for but I am enjoying it! (Especially with my beautiful new lens!) But I'd be interested in how often my readers would like posts? Let me know if you have an opinion on the matter!

Anyways - I'm back with a new outfit post (surprise, surprise). And it finally felt like fall when I was shooting these so I figured I'd bring out my favorite denim jacket.

I'm sure you'll see this denim jacket in a lot of other posts this A/W but it is just so versatile! I picked mine up from Old Navy probably two years ago but I know you can find them anywhere. I love mine for fall because it's a darker wash but it can still go with black skinny jeans or a even a very dark wash. Today, I paired it with a maroon skater skirt from H&M that I picked up in the sale last summer for 7$! (You'll definitely be seeing it a lot this A/W a lot too...) It's definitely one of my favorite skirts.

As for my shirt, I paired it with a grid printed tank-top I thrifted this summer (orginally from Target.) I loved how the top and the skirt went together but the shirt poofed out a little, which I partially why I added the jacket. I also added a necklace I thrifted this summer for 4$! I got my black booties from Nordstrom last fall (Children's size...) but I'm sure they have a similar variation for this fall! Such a classic piece.

But probably my favorite part of the outfit - the hat! It's a felt hat with stunning floral detailing and once the weather starts to get cooler I can't stop wearing it! I received it as a gift but it was originally from Nordstrom. I also wore the same ring in my last post

I've got a lot of great posts coming your way this week so make sure to subscribe!

TOPSHOP Paisley Pants

Hello!

It's been a few days since I posted my last outfit post so here is a new one! With this look I wanted to focus on these Paisley printed trousers I got from Topshop a few weeks ago in the sale section for only 15 dollars! I got the petite size and they fit me perfectly! I normally need to get pants hemmed but not these. They're a really comfortable cigarette fit, which I haven't really tried before.

I wanted the rest of my outfit to be pretty simple so I just added this black muscle tee I thrifted this summer and my classic black flats. I just think the plants speak for themselves! I also added a bolo tie like necklace I got at an estate sale. I've  been trying to find the perfect outfit to wear it with and I think it adds just the perfect amount of something. (ignore my chipped nails!)

It's still so hot where I am but this outfit would transition great for the colder months. The trousers are pretty thick so they'd keep me warm. I could replace the tank with a long sleeve top and sweater and be perfect for fall!

I've also been working on some new fall make-up looks and I am loving this warm toned look! There will be a youtube tutorial up later this week that I am really excited to post so stay tuned for that!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Accessorizing 101: T-shirt and Jeans

Hello!
Today I'm bringing something a little different! I wanted to talk about how to transform a t-shirt and jeans into a really beautiful outfit!

I started out with my light wash skinny jeans from American Eagle and a plan baseball tee from Urban Outfitters. (wait, what - i didn't thrift anything for this outfit! but wait!)

To make this outfit a little more interesting than your basic t-shirt and jeans I added a fun floral kimono and the necklace from my last post! I've featured this kimono before but I think it can look fantastic with simple skinny jeans as well! It's also perfect for this time of year because it can still be hot where I am and this kimono is so light and airy!

I think adding a few accessories - like a necklace or a lightweight kimono can add vibrancy to an otherwise dull outfit! For the fall I'd definitely trade out the lightwash denim for a darker wash and perhaps something with some rips! I think this type of outfit can work for any time of year.

I absolutely adore this skinny jeans because of the detailing on the sides! Isn't it stunning? It's also really subtle and delicate, which I think definitely goes along with this outfit!

Casual Monday Outfit

Hello!

Today I'm bringing to you another outfit post! I was having a pretty chill monday so here is a very simple outfit.

It was pouring rain here but I managed to find some time to shoot some photos in this dreary weather. I feel like it rains everyday now! Anyways - with the end of summer approaching quickly I decided to get in a few more fun summer outfit posts!

This is another one of my go-to outfits. I picked up these vintage high waisted shorts about a year ago and I'm obsessed with them! I've never found a pair of high waisted shorts that I find flattering (and long enough!) and these fit like a glove. I was never a huge shorts wearer before I got these and now I want to wear them with everything.

I paired the shorts with a baggier t-shirt that I thrifted a few weeks ago. It's originally from urban outfitters and so comfortable! I'm normally not a big v-neck fan but this one is really nice. I also love the different colors of stripes. It's really different from my MANY other striped shirts! I also just added a nice brown braided belt from Forever 21 I got years ago.

As for shows I just wore my trusty black flats from Target. These are fairly old but I know they still make this kind of flats. They're great for the rain and have lasted for a really long time.

The Denim Vest

Hello!

Sorry I missed yesterday's outfit post. I'm not sure why but every time I've taken outfit photos recently I really haven't like them. It's been a difficult summer and I recently found out some upsetting news that didn't help. Things have been weird recently and so my photos aren't as great as I want them to be.

Another thing - Wow I'm almost at 40 subscribers on Bloglovin'!! I've been doing this for a little over a month now and I'm really surprised! Thank you to everyone who reads. I am forever thankful.

Now onto the outfit!

I'll be the first to admit - this outfit formula (boyfriend jeans/skinny jeans + white shirt + denim vest) is my go to for when I don't know what to wear. Vests are my favorite way to elevate an outfit and just make the look a bit more interesting. I also decided on sandals today because it is still August and so hot here. My pastel pink boyfriend jeans are from Old Navy from a few years ago. These pants are definitely a favorite of mine - so comfortable and the fit is perfect!

My denim vest was actually a gift from my grandmother years ago (we're talking 8+ years ago!) And I have to say it is still a staple in my wardrobe! I have to stop myself from wearing it so often. The wash is just perfect and I love that it has studs. Definitely adds a bit of edge to my pastel pink pants! My white button down is from Forever 21 but you can find these anywhere and are definitely a staple!

I talked about these sandals in my first ever post (here) but I love them so I thought I'd feature them again! I got them from Target in the children's section this summer and I think they are the perfect sandal! (ignore my unpainted toenails...)

Well that's it for my outfit post today! I hope you enjoyed it and I'll try and get another post up tomorrow (or thursday..)

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think in the comments below.

The Military Vest / Entirely Thrifted Outfit

Hello!
If you can't tell from this color palette of this outfit... I am extremely ready for fall. I do love bright colors (like my previous post) But in all honesty - I am so over the 100 degree weather, sweating profusely when I leave the house, and not being able to wear a sweater! So I decided for a more muted color palette.

I also decided on this outfit on Monday because it was National Thrift Shop day! And this outfit is entirely thrifted! I recently thrifted the vest but it's originally from H&M. Some of the buttons are a little loose but I found it for 2 dollars and I just couldn't pass it up! I love how military inspired it is! ButI also feel a bit like I'm in a marching band when I wear it too. I can definitely see getting a ton of use out of this in the fall. (You'll also see from many of my posts I am addicted to vests!!)

I thrifted the gray skirt on the same thrifting trip and it is originally from Express. I originally picked it up to wear under a sheer purple Maxi skirt I have but I decided I liked it on its own too much! My brown/salmon colored shirt is originally from H&M.

My shoes are probably my favorites part of this outfit. They are indeed little boy shoes but when I saw them they were in perfect condition and I couldn't pass them up! When I brought them home from the thrift store I showed them to my dad. He promptly went to his room and grabbed the same pair of shoes out of his closet!! What a hilarious and wonderful find. I've had them for about a year or two now and they've still held up great! My floral socks are hand-me-downs from my Mom and I wear them all the time.

The Orange Dress

Hello!
I'm back with a new outfit post!

I'm going to be honest with you - I haven't had the best summer. I graduated from college in May and I haven't had the best luck finding a job hence the reason why I started this blog! (not to make money but it's something fun to do and take my mind off the whole job applying process). But the reason I'm telling you this is because when I'm feeling down I try and wear really bright colors - hence the reason for this dress! And I must say - this is the perfect summer dress!

I actually received this dress from a friend because it shrunk in the wash and was too small for her. Lucky me! She originally got it from Kohl's. It is a little short of me but I still wear it because it's so comfy and such a vibrant color. The detailing is also beautiful and it has a slip underneath, which makes it the perfect everyday dress!

I got the necklace about a year ago at Old Navy for around 10 dollars. I love the length and the tassel at the end! It goes with so many things and I'm sure you'll see it in a ton of blog posts. For my shoes I wore my trusty Target sneakers I got for 5 dollars on sale last month. I've worn them almost everyday this summer since I've gotten them.

Well that's it! I hope you enjoyed today's post and I'll see you on Wednesday.
